The proper o-ring size is a fundamental aspect of proper o-ring performance. Whether your application conforms to U.S., Japanese JIS, British BS, or Common Metric sizing for o-rings, these o-ring size charts will help you locate the right o-ring size. If the o-ring, quad-ring, x-ring or square-ring you need doesn't fit these standards, custom ...
Dubbed the X-Ring chain, ProX's O-ring style chain offering features a QX-style O-ring. QX refers to the specific shape of the O-ring, which results in less rubber surface area touching the chain plates, while still sealing in grease. ProX X-Ring chains operate with approximately 40% less friction than a comparable O-ring chain.

The best way to size an o-ring is by measuring the CS (cross-section) and ID (inside diameter). For measuring the cross-section, it is best to use a caliper, a.k.a. micrometer. If you don't have one available, various other sizing tools can be used to get a close estimate. When measuring very small IDs, it is also best to use a caliper.
The O-ring calculator tool is intended to form the basis of an o-ring installation, and assist with selection of o-ring and hardware dimensions. Recommendations are based on available technical information, and are offered as suggestions only, any reliance placed on such information by the user is strictly at the user's risk.
In most rotary shaft applications, O-ring squeeze should be kept to as little as 0.002″ by using an O-ring with an O.D. of about 5% larger than the accompanying gland. Once installed, peripheral compression puts the O-ring's I.D. in light contact with the turning shaft. This design minimizes frictional heat buildup and prolongs seal life.

Both O-ring and X-ring are sealed. It is only the difference in the cross section of the ring, one is X and the other is O.
An O-ring is a solid-rubber seal shaped like a doughnut or torus. When compressed between mating surfaces, an O-ring blocks the passage of liquids or gases. Parco O-rings are available in a wide range of standard and non-standard sizes that are suitable for nearly all sealing applications. Two dimensions describe the size of an O-ring: its
Global O-Ring and Seal offers X-Rings in standard AS568 sizes, as well as metric sizes. Our part naming convention in the online store is a "Q" preceding the material, durometer, and size. For example, part number QN70230 is an X-Ring made with Nitrile material at 70 durometer in the 230 AS568 size. For more information or to request a ...

Put any regular dirtbike on chassis dyno, with o-ring chain. Measure power output. Swap chain with x-ring or non o-ring, repeat. I'd be surprised if one of the moto mags hadn't already done this. Well, probably between unsealed and sealed. I'd bet there isn't much difference power-wise between o-ring and any of the fancier variants of …
When designing an X-ring in a rotary gland, just like with O-rings, it is always recommended to design the X-ring as a seal. X-rings work best if the rotational speed is kept below 6.5ft/s, the pressure is below 150psi, and temperatures are within -30°C – 100°C. X-rings in rotary seals should also be made of 80 or 90 durometer material.
If you are looking for a comprehensive guide on O-Ring design, selection, and application, you should download the Parker O-Ring Handbook (ORD 5700) pdf. This document covers the basics of O-Ring sealing, elastomer properties, and dynamic and static design criteria. It also provides detailed tables and charts for various O-Ring sizes, materials, and …
O-ring is mechanically squeezed out of round between the outer and inner members to close the fl uid passage. The seal material under mechanical pressure extrudes into the microfi ne grooves of the gland. Figure 1-5 illustrates the application of fl uid pressure on the O-ring. Note that the O-ring has been
Most of my riding is off road (dirt). I think the O ring chain will trap water and dirt in the chain if the O ring has a fault. That creates a problem down the road. The O ring chain is fine for street use, but for dirt, not so much. The non O ring chain will allow the dirt and water to collect in the rollers, but at the same time requires more ...
When choosing between an x ring vs o ring bike chain, it mainly comes down to weighing factors like sealing performance, efficiency, weight, noise, and cost. For most riders, an o ring chain is the best option thanks to superior lubrication and lower friction. However, x ring chains can make sense for some applications where light weight is ...
X-Rings: An Alternative to O-Rings. When comparing O-Wings vs. X-rings, X-rings have twice the surface area of O-rings and provide a double-sealing action that requires less force and results in fewer leaks. The cross-section of the ring looks like an X, and the edges compress together to provide the double seal.
